Yes it is true. Myself being a thrid wave xbox live beta tester has now lost my #1 box to it. Since getting xbox live and putting it on my xbox I have had nothing but problems. I am not the only one too. On the xbox live beta testing forums it has happened to many other people. I first had problems with my box not booting up right, it would take me five mins to get it running. Now it is that it won't even boot up at all after xbox emailed us telling us to leave our xbox live beta disk in over night for they could update your xbox and test the connection. I have called and emailed xbox and all what they have give me is the push around and bull****. With the lack of support and keeping me and others in the dark I have started to talk to an attorney since I am not the only one who has had their xbox die and have the bull****. xbox thinks that I should pay $108.12USD for something that they screwed up. If anyone else is reading this and has had the samething happen to them or has an idea how to fix it please email me at webmaster@xbox100.com

UPDATE: playing with the power and eject button for two hours the box has finally booted up. I am now not going to shut it down until I get the new xbox live disk. If I do shut it down it will take me at least another two hours to get it where I am now.

It starts to burn out just when I install xbox live what writes to the eeprom what is read each time it starts up? The xbox live eeprom writes right to the start of the eeprom and that is where my problem is. With that it has been the xbox live installer that ****ed my xbox.

We played the life out of your box. We played it 24/7.

I would have said that was the case if it started acting up before or just a while after installing xbox live.
