opinions please!

OK as some of you know we are going to get a new review section to discuss apps. My question is this, we are thinking there should be 2 seperate sections 1 for games and 1 for apps and homebrew. These new forums will let anyone talk about apps they have tried like cartographer or boxplorer, and be able to get feedback from other users. This is not going to be an open invatation to bash your fellow modder cause they like somthing you don't I will be monitoring it very close all disrespectfull post will be deleted at once and you may get banned for real bad stuff. Anyway what other stuff would you like to see? Now is the time as we will have Deadmans attention when he gets back from moderating the real world. Please show your support for this site and let the Deadman know what we want to see and talk about.

Reviews of homebrew apps would be excellent.

Id love to see included, version no. being reviewed, what the app does, how easy it is to install/setup/use and so on.

How will it be setup though? how many reviews per app (will we have several dozen evox dash reveiws?), would the moderators sort out the good from the bad........

good question tom23 we would have to hope that the users that post a new app or tool would post what version it is and not create a dozen threads about the same thing we will have to post a sticky that states the preffered review standards for apps.

everyone should post under certain conditions
it should be well formatted in EVERY post
where the post Name is something like

"Xectuter 2 4979.03 Bios"

and not "New Xecuter 2 Bios Review"

we know it would be new
and we know it is a review because its in the review section
this would keep it having a clean look

also it could be formatted in a way that the first post give all the information and updates.... any updates for that partivular item would be used by "editing" the original first post and putting "UPDATE and then the Date" to keep it clean once again adn have all important info in same post
if u werent the original poster or arent a mod then PM the new Info to the original poster so he can add it and credit it to u

before u put a comment if uve used the item u rate it so everyone knows what everyone else thinks of it and kan see how its been rated

peepingtom - sounds good there. i like the poll idea and the editing. i guess as long as you guys 'moderate' the section and keep an eye on it, it should work like a treat.the thread title is important too as you said to give an exact description of the app, version etc.
i'll keep watch with interest!

MAYBE, for the noobs....this section you could point to threads or posts where questions can be asked.

I would have to agree, where there should be two sections. One for "Game" and another for "Apps, homebrew" also a "dash" section would be great as well. For reasons of causing less confusion of appz that run on top of another (dash). Like for say. I am using Avalanche dash and it has a built in box explorer. So we noobs might not install or will install another explorer xbe file.

Well this is just an idea. More categories wouldn't hurt.

Agree mostly "Pros & Cons" is a must. It must be consistent and not harmful to another programs that does the exact same. For example… we have "XboxExplorer" and "Xcommander 2" both are a stand alone file manager .xbe.

Agree again.. their should be a "How to install" & "main home page of the apps" with the pros and cons.

(Review of what does it do and new futures. Applied here)

"How to install"
(Applied here or RTFM)

"Pros"
(Applied here)
"Cons"
(Applied here)

"User Review"

Opinions? Sure! Got plenty! On this topic, you ask? Oh. OK.

1) Elf needs to use more punctuation (no offense, but that first post is hard to read ;-)

2) Standard format - yes. Very good idea.

3) No bashing - also very good idea. The section should be more journalistic, less like the editorials page.

If it's going to be in forum format, the title needs to be as descriptive as possible in the space allotted, including function, name, version, unless there are going to be sections for the various functions, e.g. Media Players, File Managers, etc. Some posts are hard to figure from just the subject. The reviews should not be.

what do you mean... you mean hard ware??? Hmm.. i think "Games" & "APPZ" is the idea for now. I believe if this takes off and every one spends more time reading the review than the threads for basic help.

A section for hardware might come into play. who knows.. these super mods are super smart so anything could happen. rest assure that I and many other will always give an honest review. when all is set and running.

I have begun work check out the new reviews section in forum catagories enjoy. More to come if the forum you are hoping for is not there yet it is coming you may also pm me if I miss somthing but give me time.:cool:
