Beginners Guide - Downloading Apps

Section 1
- mIRC
First of all, you're going to want to Download the applications named mIRC and SmartFTP.
The Download links are just above here.
To the general user this program looks as if it were a chat application. For the most part, we are going to use it for its accessability to
personal FTP's (file transfer protocol) Other wise known as being able to access someones files off of there personal pc's.
Next I will be showing you a step-by-step process on how to install mIRC
Picture 1 is the Screenshot that you will see when you run the file that you downloaded.
-NOTE- Steps go from LEFT to RIGHT

1. Select "Next" |

4. Uncheck "Read mIRC Help File". |

5. Hit "Continue" |
6. Fill in your Personal Settings here. |

7. This is your servers screen. See next Screenshot. |
8. Make sure you Select a "EFnet" server. Shouldn't matter which one. |

9. Once you connect to the "EFnet" Server it will ask you what channel you want to connect to.
Channel is another word for room.
Make sure you type #xbins then hit join.
This is where we are going to make the transition from mIRCto XBINS
Section 2
- XBINS
XBINS was started on June 30th 2002. It was started as a safe haven for developers to release their xbox applications without fear of Microsoft.
XBINS provides the most complete, up-to-date source of homebrew Xbox files available, as well as the fastest xbox software news source. Users ranging from beginners to full time developers regularly visit xbins associated channels. Developers are given access to a support channel and means of automated release and news updates. We enjoy our close ties with developers, and will actively fight distribution of leaked or fake/virus applications. All files on our servers are verified to be legitimate.
Traditionaly, Xbox binaries are compiled with Microsoft's libraries, and sadly are considered to be copyright infringement. Hobby developers should not have to feel like criminals for enhancing the capabilities of this great platform. We feel that the software we distribute does not harm Microsoft or Xbox game developers financially. All software provides features that were previously unavailable for the system.
Following the previous section we dip into using the xbins channel.
This is what you will see imediatly after the last mIRC step.
As you can see here i have typed in "/msg xbins !list".
This is what you need to type in in order to access the permissions page for the xbins FTP.
Once you have typed in the "/msg xbins !list" (omit the quotes) you will see a red box at the top of the screen.
Click on it.
This will be the last screen that we will be using in mIRC.
Make sure you have a pen and paper handy
Write down the "FTP ADDRESS:", "PORT", "USERNAME" and "PASSWORD".
-NOTE- All these fields have been blanked out by myself for security reasons.
For those of you that are interested in XBMC(XBox Media Center) write down the FTP info that is displayed in the red box's. You can use this to log into the XBMC FTP and get their latest updates.
Section3
- SmartFTP
If you haven't already installed SmartFTP, you can do so by following the link above.(SmartFTP picture)
These are the following steps on the installation of SmartFTP, then accessing the XBins Files through SmartFTP.

Once the Installation is complete, please Double click on the SmartFTP icon on your Desktop.
If you do not have a SmartFTP Icon on your desktop Please do the following:
- Click on the "Start" button in the bottom left corner of your desktop
- Click on "All Programs".
- Click on "SmartFTP".
- Click on "SmartFTP".
you recieved in the box's indicated below.
Last but not least, This is the screen you will see once you enter you Xbins FTP info into those box's.
In case your not seeing what im seeing; Remember to hit "Enter" after inputing the info into the fields!
For the final touch just browse around through the files and just drag and drop what you want onto your desktop.
Thats it folks, simple as that, YOUR DONE!!!
