This is a tutorial to show you how to paint the top of your xbox case and jewel- it will also show you how to take the jewel off. ok first off you should go down to your local hardware store and buy some plasti-kote spray paint of your favorite colour (bearing in mind you need to be 18 to buy spray paint, if your not 18 get one of your parents/guardians too) take off the xbox case and avoid your warranty and take the top bit off.
To get the jewel off take the metal shielding off the back of your xbox case and heat the back of where your jewel is for about 5 minutes with a hair dryer (swap over to the top ofthe jewel for about 3 seconds every 2 minutes). now once youve heated it up get a pocket knive and yank it under each part of the jewel and just pull the jewel up - voila the jewel should just come free now once you have got the jewel off try and get as much of the black stuff off the jewel as possible . once you've done that get a low grit sand paper and start sanding the back of it off. every so often switch to a higher grit sand paper and start sanding it with that. it may come out scratchy but start with a low grit sand paper and work up to a higher grit sand paper. the jewel should turn clear in a while. Now for our secret polish - Toothpaste - no im not kidding this is the easiest way to polish your jewel. put a bit onto a unused toothbrush and start rubbing the back of the jewel. it should make it really clear. now once you have done that go into a well ventilated area and put your jewel upside down onto a bit of newspaper. now get a can of plasti-kote spray paint and spray the back of it doing light coats each time and do it about 3 or 4 times by going right to left and left to right. your jewel should come out whatever color you sprayed it with now. leave it too dry over night somewhere and in the morning it should be really dry. now in the same night its time to take the top of your case which you took off earlier on and take it too the well ventilated area again. maskin tape up the parts of your xbox that you don't want to spray (put picture xbox3 here) do it in steps and make sure to do a good job for best results. The longer you take the better it will be. me and burning warrior recommend that you put strips of it on the parts that you don't want and use a craft knife to make it straight. do it in steps like these
now once you have that done put a lid or something to make it so that you can't spray where the jewel is usually.
once you have done that spray it with light coats from left to right of your favorite colour (we used plasti-kote spray paint again) until it looks like this.
It will look like this when you take the maskin tape off
To put the jewel back on use either radio shack all-purpose adhesive (Apply it lightly with a paint brush, works fine if you do that.) or liquid cement = Strong and clear. First indications are very promising! once you have done all that put the case back on your xbox and it should look like this!
