How
turn your plug from this V
To this V
Tools
you need:
-The
break-a-way end of the controller that plugs into the X-Box
-A small thin flat head screw driver or electrical
probe ~~>
-An
LED -what ever color you want-
-A
resistor 100ohm -just keeps LED from burning up-
-A
soldering iron and some solder
How
to do it:
-First
off I have to say that it’s on you if you break anything-
-I
do not that responsibility for what happens-
2) Bend back the metal tab and cut it off. -It’s just part off the ground its OK to cut off-
3)
Look at the wires. There’s one red and four blacks. Were going to use the red
and the black farthest from the red. All the controllers I've seen have had one
red and four blacks, if yours is different then use a multi-meter to find the
ground. Touch one probe to the red then the other to the different blacks your
looking for 5v DC. -Note controller most be plugged in and X-Box be on to find
the ground-
4)
Attaching the resistor to the Led. Twist the resistor wire around the positive
wire of the LED. The negative end will have a flat side or a dimple and the
positive end will be round
5) Cut down the wire to make it smaller. It should now look like this. Cover wire with electrical tape where you’re not going to solder.
6) The red wire is +5v and the black is -5v or ground. Soldering the wires is pretty easy since you already have solder on the plug. Use extra solder if you need to just make sure you don't bridge any points that may kill your controller. Attach the positive end of the LED -the end with the resistor- to the red wire and the negative end of the LED to the black wire.
7)
Before you do anything else plug the break-a-way end into the controller and
into the X-Box. Turn on the X-Box and it should be glowing, if it isn't scroll
down to the trouble-shooting section.
Trouble-Shooting
Section
I
think every tutorial should have a trouble-shooting section even easy ones like
this.
1)
No light
Check your solder points and check your LED to see if you put it on
backwards.
-LEDs are electronic one way valves and won't work if backwards-
2)
Blinking LED
Bad solder point check and resolder.
3)
Controller not working
Bridged wire, unbridge and try again if controller still doesn't work buy a new one.
