Solderless Xenium Install

Xbox v1.0-1.4

What you will need:

Xbox version 1.0 thru 1.4

Xenium chip by Team OzXodus www.OzXodus.com

Solderless Adapter

Torx Drivers

First you will need to take your console apart. There are 6 torx screws holding the case together. One under each of the two labels and one under each of the rubber feet.

Once you remove all six screws you can remove the top of the case.

There is one screw holding in the hard drive tray and two holding in the DVD drive tray. Remove all 3 screws and unplug the gray ribbon cable from the hard drive and DVD drive. Unplug the yellow wire from the back of the DVD drive and the power wires from the back of the hard drive.

Remove the hard drive tray first and then the DVD drive tray.

You will now need to find the LPC area of the motherboard. It is located near where the gray ribbon cable plugs into the motherboard.

Remove the screw right above the LPC.

Locate the D0 via just to the left of the LPC depending on which version Xbox you have.

Version 1.0 - 1.1 D0 via

Version 1.2 - 1.5 D0 via

If you have a console (late version 1.1 - 1.5 Xbox’s) with no solder in the LPC holes you will need to place the small gold rivets included with the solderless adapter in the LPC holes so that the pogo pins rest on the gold rivets. DO NOT try to solder the rivets in the LPC holes, this is not needed.

To install the solder less adapter you need to rest the pogo pins on the LPC holes and tighted it down using the supplied screw.

Gently bend and press the adapters spring wire into the D0 via of the motherboard. The spring wire will not go all the way through the motherboard so you don’t need to try and force it through the D0 via.

Now you can plug your Xenium chip onto the adapter.

Before putting everything back together it’s a good idea to test the install.

Make sure EVERYTHING is out of the Xbox console and power it on to see if the LED on the Xenium lights up. If your chips LED lights your ready to put everything back together.

Troubleshooting:

If you get the 3 reboots and then FRAG (Flashing Red And Green eject button) then most likely you are not making good contact between the Adapter and LPC.

Try re-aligning the adapter over the LPC holes.

Gently press down on the top on the Xenium while you power on the Xbox. If your Xbox boots to the XeniumOS then your Adapter is not tight enough or is slightly misaligned.

If you do not get the XeniumOS screen then double check your D0 spring wire.

Version 1.5 consoles

Version 1.5 consoles require 2 extra wires to be soldered from the motherboard to the LPC area of the motherboard.

Example is of a pin header install but these are the 2 wires that need to be added to supply the LPC with Ground and 3.3volts.
