Tools needed:
-1 5mm LED or 3mm LED(color of your choice)
-1 100ohm resistor
-Small flat screwdriver
-15 watt Soldering pencil
-Solder (I used 0.032" diameter)
-Wire (good gauge to handle the power...yeh)
-Hot glue gun with glue stick ;) (Optional)

1. The Controller dongle is quite a hassle to open if you do not know where the tabs are. About 1/8" from the front plastic on the side of the dongle is the first set of tabs. then right at the back is the next set. GENTLY pry open the casing of the dongle.
2. Once open, the bottom and top parts of the dongle should be removed and set aside. Also notice that the metal from the USB connector of the controller dongle has a small round tab that clamps to the cable at the dust boot. Trim this away but LEAVE the metal wrap strand wire. I used electrical tape to protect the LED and resistor from touching ANY metal other than what they are soldered to.

3. The red wire connection is 5V (+) and the black is GND(-) in this case. So thats the far left and far right for our power source. Solder the 100ohm resistor to the (+) red contact point. Trim as much away as you can to make sure itll still fit inside the dongle case.
4. Now solder the positive leg to the resistor.
5. NOW, here's the choice, have the LED pointed towards the Xbox or away. I show here it being pointed towards BUT I have changed my method since these pics have been taken. If you flip the LED around, you can solder the negative leg straight to the contact. If you do not wish to solder the LED (-) leg right to the (-) contact or wish to have it point towards the xbox, you'll need to have a small wire to bridge the connections!

6. Give the dongle a test run before snapping the casing on. The picture above shows the casing on, BUT it's merely just resting on top so I can get a true feel for what itll look like. This in the dark, next in the light.

7. If you are extra crafty and wanna put hotglue inside the dongle to diffuse the light and make it fill the dongle evenly, you may do that as well. I opted not to as it is a small area and the hot glue will just be a pain in the ass!
